Need Color for Your Used Kitchen Cabinets to Make Impact?
Are you bored with your kitchen?
- is it time for introducing some color to your used kitchen cabinets to bring life to your tired kitchen? Creative use of colors can really transform your kitchen so that with the addition of a little paint, you'll congratulate yourself on having a brand new feel and freshness without blowing the budget.
From the mottled, textured neutrals (whites, greys and blacks) to the metallics (nickel, copper and stainless steel) the options are varied and countless for used kitchen cabinets.
Remember to look at 'the big picture' which is important, particularly if your kitchen flows through into other living areas in your home.
You need to blend and complement or contrast in a way that the one enhances the other.
The norm is to keep the cabinets neutral, but where you have this opportunity to bring in a dramatic color, doing it through the color of the cabinetry is very attractive and eye-catching.
Consider:
The colors of the floor, sinks, tapware and cabinet hardware, and walls. These could all be softer shades of a selection of neutral colors like greys, mocchas, lattes and whites.
The sink and tapware and handles, if you have any, could be of a like material. For example, stainless steel, copper (especially nice for a country or vintage kitchen), brushed nickel or chrome, or pewter. Then choose a dark or vibrant color such as those shown here - deep blue, striking orange, sunny yellow or even black (hot in Europe at the moment) for your dramatic, used kitchen cabinets.
Of course you need to think of the color of your benchtops, but a granite or engineered stone would look marvellous, to be at ease with the color of the cabinets.
Another way to inject a dramatic color into your kitchen is with the walls around the cabinets and benchtops. A modern contemporary look is achieved with a monochromatic grey for all else in the kitchen, except the walls which can be deep lime green or a strong red.
The tone can be picked up again in the backsplash. This makes for a very dramatic and stunning statement in your kitchen.
Alternatively, you can place the dramatic color in the kitchen splashback. This can be done using colored glass, small glass mosaics, large deeply-colored ceramic or glass tiles or metallic tiles such as those of stainless steel, chrome, copper or nickel.
This makes for a very bold and extremely contemporary look when found in a kitchen of antique whites or greys.
So, create a focal point with your colorful cabinets and you will be so pleased with the wonderful effect that just the introduction of one bold color feature can make!
