Deep Red Laminate Kitchen Cabinets and Glossy Metallic Backsplash

The design of this space was a bit challenging as it is so small, but fortunately to the right there is a window, below which was fitted a sink, benchtop and cupboards in the same tone of red as the others.

A lot of natural light comes in from the window and when the lighting is on the metallic mosaic tiling on the wall behind the kitchen cabinets and rangehood, sparkles and twinkles in a vibrant display of glitter.

The frosted glass doors of the wall units give a much lighter feel that would have been the case has the red of below been used here as well.

The contertops are stainless steel which matches the long handles and the undercounter oven.

Note the clever use of tiles and again mosaic (stone) in the flooring that comes in stripes just as the wall stripes do. Placing the strong black stripe on the floor horizontally gives a very pleasing contrast to the vertical stripes on the wall.

The deep red color is the focus and makes this small space into a commanding one. The materials chosen give an air of expense and quality.

The color of the walls are of the same tone as the lighter parts of the stone mosaic of the floor and goes well in this area.

Try to bring home lots of samples and swatches to see how your ideas will look in place... often it is necessary to get a good feel of the space within which you are laying tiles and painting expanses of color.
