Kitchen Floor Design
What's the point of a kitchen floor design?
A well made kitchen floor design is easier to come up with than you may imagine. There is all sorts of software to help you design like a professional. But perhaps it is a good idea to start with some paper and your kitchen space measurements.
You will require a tape measure, pencil and graph paper.
Take precise measurements of your kitchen. Ensure that you measure from kitchen wall to kitchen wall, exclude the kitchen cabinets.
Mark all of your wall measurements on your graph paper to make your kitchen floor plan. Be sure that each square on your graph paper represents one foot or 6 inches so that your floor plan is a good representation of what your kitchen looks like. It is important to not only draw the line but to mark the exact measurements above the line.
Next, take careful measurements of all doors and windows and mark these on your layout.
If there are any other structures in the kitchen that should be noted, be sure to do so. For example, if there is a heater or a fixed wood stove, be sure to mark that.
Now it is a good time to measure from floor to ceiling and mark that in your sidelines.
Now you can get onto some good online sites that offer an online kitchen planner. The advantages of using these are numerous.
You can generate a 3D plan that will allow you to change about design features until you have what you are looking for.
Also a planner will offer you tips and guidelines so that you can create a design worthy of a professional designer.
This will mean that any errors in your kitchen floor design, such as cupboard doors not having enough space to open freely, will be evident to you as your design progresses.
(Go to 'floorplanner.com' for many sites offering this function.)
Now you can insert kitchen appliances and kitchen cabinets into your floor plan.
Visit showrooms, or again, online sites for measurements of the exact appliances that you'd like. Then make sure that everything fits in well. Good luck!
