Kitchen Design Layouts
Use Earthy Granite, Timber and Beautiful Lighting
Kitchen design layouts are the primary concern when designing or remodeling.
A home nestled into the countryside and surrounded by stunning scenery - the design brief for this kitchen was to keep as much natural light as possible in it and to use a neutral palette that would harmonise with the rest of the natural materials used in its construction.
The space is large, so a long island incorporating the double sink and dishwasher, was placed to enclose most of the kitchen in a galley style arrangement.
The rest of the cabinets and cupboards are placed along the rear wall of the open plan dining and living area.
An uncluttered plan and strong earthy colors, were used to give emphasis to the delineated space.
To add character and interest to the room, a strong walnut was chosen for the front of the cabinetry. Full-height floor to ceiling cabinetry and a neutrally colored ceramic tiled area in between, means that the spaces flow seamlessly together.
The countertops are of highly polished granite that reflect the natural light and give just the right amount of contrast to the timber floors.
To keep the integrated look, most of the appliances are behind the cabinetry. Brass knobs lift the darkness of the wooden cabinets and match the metallic look of the light fittings.
This is a kitchen in which any chef would be very happy to work. At night the mood is changed for entertaining with dimmed light from the hanging pendants.
