Kitchen Cabinet Trends That Will Stand The Test of Time..
There are many interesting kitchen cabinet trends in design to captivate you, but be aware that only some trends last longer than a decade or so.
Colors, forms and textures do change over time, but good quality craftsmanship and brave
ideas outlast these changes. What is trendy now, may not be in a few years time.
Will my choice of colors and fittings still be in fashion in a few years time?
This is something that is a little unknown, but it is proven that neutral colors, modern
white or stainless steel kitchens, shining wooden or tiled floors and strategically placed lighting are kitchen trends or styles that are popular with almost everyone.
One reason is that if there is a lovely clean 'canvas' or
look, you are able to place your own furnishings and colorings 'on top' which makes for a
very attractive room.
Also, the kitchen won't 'date' quickly, which happens when more "out there" fads are followed,
like the lime green cabinetry of the seventies! Kitchens with clean lines and no clutter
withstand time better.
The ESD (environmentally sustainable design) kitchen trend
Definitely the eco-friendly emphasis in design is a growing kitchen cabinet trend and
is here to stay. Being environmentally responsible is a serious factor that more and more
people consider very important when planning living and working spaces.
Ask a designer to come and see your new space in the planning stages to give
suggestions about what to do in the way of energy saving devices and construction. They
will be very happy to do this..
The Integrated kitchen...
A new kitchen cabinet trend that we think will last, is to hide or integrate appliances and machines.
The fridge, microwave, dishwasher and oven are hidden behind panels fixed onto their doors
that match the rest of the cabinetry . Kettles and toasters are hidden in cupboards or behind
scroll-up and down screens.
The result is a totally uncluttered space that is very easy on the eye as it appears seamless
and luxurious. The crisp lines add to a feeling of cleanliness and efficiency.
Where your kitchen is in a bigger living space, an integrated style gives a better, smarter look.
A small area looks bigger when it is integrated.
Can any layout be integrated?
Yes, the best thing is that almost any style will work as an integrated space.
And, it is not necessarily more expensive than the average kitchen will be. Again, it
is a good idea to ask for advice from a designer who will come and have a look at what you need.
You are only limited by your budget and your imagination!
But..you need to buy appliances that are designed to be integrated, and then to buy extra cabinet
doors and 'faces' to put onto them. Unfortunately, it is not possible to use your old appliances that
aren't designed for this! Fully integrated appliances are moving from the high-end of the market through
to the popular very quickly.
