Glass Sheeting -
Backpainted glass is very popular. The glass can be painted on the back in any color or tone. This is just the place
to add a splash of color into your design! The glass must be carefully measured and installed...

Mosaics -
Another growing trend in kitchen splashbacks is to use small mosaic tiles up to the bottom of wall cabinets...these are made of
glass and ceramics. They are so pretty and add lots of excitement and interest to the wall!
Ceramic Tiles -
The variety in ceramic tiles is infinite! Sizes, designs, textures and colors make for a rather bewildering
array of choice! You can mix and match, or make a feature out of pictorial ones.
And don't forget to reseal the grout
every couple of years to avoid it getting dirty or crumbling. Prices vary from inexpensive for standard plain tiles,
to very pricey for handpainted Italian tiles.
Mirror -
Here is an interesting option! Mirror will creat a sense of space and this is especially useful in a small kitchen. It is, however, vulnerable to moisture and heat, and is not as sturdy as toughened glass. It may need replacing in a few years.
Paint -
This is the easiest of all, the cheapest AND you can do it yourself! Make sure that you choose a paint suited to repelling moisture and mould as the wall will be getting wet.
The advantages of painting a kitchen backsplash include, ability to change color as often as you like, can be used with 3 or 4 rows of tiles that complement the color, and it doesn't need any
maintenance.
Some handy tips...
Bring home some tiles and sheets to put up against your wall and see how they look as kitchen splasbacks. All showrooms will let you
do this, as it's very hard to get the full effect.
Make sure that the tiles or sheets are fixed to the wall in the proper ways. Call a tiler in to give you
suggestions and quotes.
Seal and 'frame' the edges if necessary.
