Galley Kitchen Designs - A Beautiful Classic Design Using White
A beautiful kitchen in Manhattan. The galley kitchen designs brief was to keep the classic look as it appears overall in the apartment, and to use contemporary lighting to highlight the special copper backdrop material that sits on the wall behind and under the cabinets.
The consultant worked with white to provide a foil to the copper and to keep the look classic and clean. A tall imposing cabinet / dresser takes up one wall as part of the galley kitchen. The middle 'dresser' section is highly decorated and provides classic lines and a columnade effect. The cabinets on either side are lit by directed lighting that spotlights the crockery displayed inside the wall cabinets. This is made possible by the glass-fronted cabinetry.
A stunning black granite countertop finishes the plan, lending an air of luxury and grandeur to the kitchen.
This kitchen floor is polished engineered stone and this lends itself to the stark whiteness of the cabinets and gives a very visually pleasing contrast to the copper as well.
Note the soft lighting from above the wall cabinets onto the ceiling, enlivening it and seemingly adding depth and height to the overall design.
This galley kitchen design works well in terms of a small kitchen being transformed into a gorgeous opulent space that feels efficient and functional, yet warm and very tasteful.
