Family Nutrition Program Focuses On Good Healthy Eating Habits
We all need to foster a healthy family nutrition program
Weight Loss... just one of the problems as a result of combatting the chronic lifestyle diseases that we are prone to in our modern society.
Other related and growing problems are diabetes, anorexia, bulimia and obesity.
There is a strong body of evidence to suggest that we are doing our children a disservice by not encouraging them to be present at family mealtimes, where we all sit down and eat meals together at regular times at least 4 times a week.
The result of our fragmented families and routines where everyone is rushing off to a different activity, is that we are no longer creating a healthy family nutrition program, directing our children's intake of good, wholesome food, or in setting the foundations of good eating habits.
And that is not to mention the lack of socialising that has historically taken place in the kitchen at mealtimes.
Sometimes, it is almost as if we are living in families that simply reside under one roof, but lead very independent lives and don't get the benefits of growing up together and talking, making connections, strengthening relationships and passing on values and attitudes.
In families that eat together, parents have a far greater chance to control food intake to healthy foods.
They can provide regular nutritious meals that fill children up until the next proper meal.
This negates the need for lots of quick, sugar-loaded snacks that give the energy release we all need if we are not fuelled up on healthy slow-carb release food.
With teenagers, it is almost more necessary if we are to try and avoid the eating disorders that plague them. It is very hard to hide food or to avoid eating it if you are seated at a table in front of the family.
If you suspect that your teenager is suffering from an eating disorder, you are more likely to pick up on it and be able to assist.
Weight loss is something that at least one member of the family will be struggling with. Eating good, fresh, wholesome food that makes up a well balanced diet, is a great way to train the body in healthy habits.
Add exercise, and weight loss is bound to follow in a natural way. And then the weight is more likely to stay off!
If you are preparing the food, you can make sure that it is done within a family nutrition program that will really help the dieter to lose weight in a steady fashion.
You can encourage eating of lots of healthy foods, and basically inculcate the good habits we all agree we should try to stick to throughout our lives.
