What about the 2020 kitchen design?
The kitchen has historically always been the 'hub' of the home - a place where the family and friends gather to talk and eat, a place to entertain friends - a very important part of everyone's lives.
Is the family kitchen going to suffer a death, or will it simply change in character as well as be used differently in times ahead, as we all get busier and have less time to cook, eat and to even get together for the traditional family meal?
It has been suggested that the future kitchen will become very different... due to :
being more and more constrained by space
time limited
living longer and getting older
each family member having different commitments
trend for people to want more professional eating experiences at home as well as out
an increased interest in where and how our food originates and how it is killed / cooked / prepared
increased push to be more responsible as a consumer
very high-tech appliances
everyone loves to cook from time to time
You only have to see how popular "Master-Chef" and other cooking television series are across the first world to realise that there is an increasing awareness of the importance of cooking in our lives.
Kitchens are here to stay - it's just a question of the form they will take and the functions that they will perform.
